Book 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Brief Summary of the Book
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is the first novel of the enormously popular best-selling Harry Potter Book Series by British writer J.K. Rowling, which needs no introduction at all. It is the novel that has shaped the lives of millions of readers and is still one of the most read novels in world literature! Harry Potter, on his eleventh birthday, gets to know that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own. Harry arrives at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and becomes friends with two of his classmates, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. Fortunately, they are all sorted into Hogwarts Gryffindor, the house famed for its courage and bravery.
Harry Potter did not die as a baby because his mother, Lily Potter, gave up her life to protect her son, shielding him with sacrificial love, the most powerful weapon against magic. Here, Lily’s love for Harry made a countercurse against the killing curse. Even if Lord Voldemort put Avada Kedavra (The Killing Curse) on baby Harry, with only a lightning bolt scar on his forehead, Harry was left unharmed and survived. Harry Potter is the only person who has ever survived this killing curse, which can kill a person instantly. So, as an orphan, Harry was kept in the care of his Muggle relatives, Petunia and Vernon Dursley, with their son Dudley.
Professor Quirrell is the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and he was the man with two faces, not Snape, who was trying to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone for Voldemort. Wearing a purple turban in order to hide Lord Voldemort’s possession of him, Quirrell became a temporary Horcrux of the Dark Lord’s soul. Attached to the back of Quirrell’s head, controlling his actions, Voldemort tried to kill Harry. But Quirrell was touched by Harry, which burned him and turned him to ash. This happened because when Lily was killed by the Dark Lord, she protected her son with the Power of Mother’s Love, which runs through Harry’s blood, the strongest weapon beyond magical powers. In the meantime, Voldemort left his soul in Quirrell’s body and passed through Harry’s body to escape.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Rowling’s debut novel, is a captivating start to Harry’s journey toward the direction of coming to the present from his unforgettable past and facing the future with courage and confidence. The style of writing throughout the book is great, the characters are amazing, the plot itself is remarkable; and how everything connects to each other was crafted perfectly. Eventually, this wonderful book takes us on a magical journey with its enthralling nature.
Book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Brief Summary of the Book
The second novel in the Harry Potter Book series is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling. After a nice summer vacation spent with the Dursleys, Harry is excited to return to Hogwarts. Unexpectedly, Dobby, a house elf, appears in Harry’s bedroom and says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts School, disaster will start to strike. Ron Weasley, Harry’s best friend, rescued him from Dursley’s house in a magical flying car and took him back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Ron, Hermione, and Harry get to know that the chamber was built by Salazar Slytherin and can be opened only by his pure-blood heir. This mysterious chamber is home to a snake-like monster that attacks Muggle-born students. Since he can speak the language of snakes, Parseltongue, Harry fears that he may be Slytherin’s heir. An ancient prediction seems to be coming true when mysterious things start happening over the corridors of Hogwarts School of Magic. The trouble starts when someone opens the Chamber of Secrets, the hidden, dark underground cells of Hogwarts.
The basilisk was hidden in the chamber of secrets by Salzar Slytherin and would only be controlled by an heir of Slytherin. Tom Marvolo Riddle, the heir of Slytherin, tried to kill Harry by releasing Slytherin’s basilisk, but Fawkes, Dumbledore’s phoenix, brought the Sorting Hat into Harry’s lap in the Chamber of Secrets, from which Godric Gryffindor’s Sword magically appeared. Blinding the eyes of the basilisk, Fawkes defended Harry as he displayed loyalty to Dumbledore inside the chamber. With the Sword of Gryffindor, Harry killed the massive serpent by stabbing it through the mouth.
A fang pierced Harry’s arm, and he got poisoned by the serpent venom, which can kill someone within less than a minute. But fortunately, Fawkes the phoenix quickly shed healing tears on Harry’s wound, saving his life, as it possesses the unique magical power of healing wounds with tears. And then Harry took the basilisk fang and stabbed Riddle’s diary, destroying the Horcrux containing the memory of Tom Riddle. ( A Horcrux is a powerful object formed by Dark Magic that allows the soul to be divided into separate pieces, giving its owner the ability to become immortal.) Eventually, Fawkes, the Phoenix, carried Harry, Ginny, Lockhart, and Ron out of the chamber. Undoubtedly, this is a rich fantasy novel of our time, fuelled by J.K. Rowling’s magical imaginative storyline combined with love, magic, spells, friendship, thrills, and humor.

The three friends, Harry, Ron, and Hermione,e return to Hogwarts for their third year of study, where they discover the mystery of the escaped prisoner, Sirius Black.
The world of magic is also excited about the escape of Sirius, who had been held at Azkaban, the most secure prison with more protection, which can hold any powerful wizard. After spending 12 years in Azkaban, he got to know that Peter Pettigrew, his old traitorous friend, is still alive in his Animagus form as a rat and really wanted to get out to help Harry. So, Sirius turned into his dog form and escaped from the prison easily. The third school year is different, as Dementors and dark creatures, are roaming around Hogwarts to prevent Black from being rescued. At Hogwarts, Dumbledore informs students that the school will be guarded by the dreaded Dementors, who can suck the souls out of wizards.
Draco Malfoy provoked Buckbeak, and in return, it attacked him. Due to that, it was sentenced to death and tied in Hagrid’s pumpkin yard. Harry, Ron and Hermione heard the sound of the axe and took it for granted that Buckbeak was killed. However, with Dumbledore’s guidance using a Time-Turner, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger travel back three hours and rescue Buckbeak just before the death. In the meantime, Scabbers tried to escape from Ron’s grip by biting his hand, but Ron again caught it. Suddenly, Sirius Black appeared in his Animagus form of a dog and dragged Ron and scabbers into the tunnel underneath Whomping Willow. Inside the Shrieking Shack, Pettigrew was unmasked to its human form by Sirius and Remus.
Pettigrew attempted to direct all charges to Sirius, but the truth that he was the one responsible for betraying Harry’s parents’ whereabouts to Voldemort was revealed and all the evidence was against him. Sirius was going to kill Pettigrew, but Harry stopped it and intended to hand over him to the Dementors and use him to rescue Sirius. Alastor Moody (Mad-Eye” Moody) was appointed as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts by Albus Dumbledore. Goblet of Fire was bewitched with restrictive charms by Dumbledore, together with other Headmasters, so that there was no cheating. However, as per the orders from Voldemort, Barty Crouch Jr, disguised as Mad-Eye Moody, put an exceptionally powerful confundus charm on the Goblet of Fire to mess up and make it think that there were four schools instead of three competing in the Tournament.
Surprisingly, when Harry’s name was chosen as the fourth competitor under the name of a fourth school, everyone assumed that Harry may have put his own name in the Goblet of Fire. Harry never placed his name there, but, someone else behind, it was actually Barty Crouch Jr. Since the Goblet of Fire pulled his name unexpectedly, Harry has to compete in the tournament even though he wasn’t eligible. Dumbledore was confident that Harry had all the abilities to survive the dangerous Triwizard tournament. This whole Triwizard Tournament was a trap just to magically transport Harry to the graveyard, where Voldemort’s father, Tom Riddle, has been buried.
With his Death Eaters, Voldemort appears in the graveyard and sets up a “duel” between Harry and himself. But something unexpected happens when Voldemort and Harry raise their wands to face each other at the same instant. As a result of the Priori Incantatem effect, a beam of light connects and surrounds both wands. This means that the ghosts of the people Voldemort has killed start appearing in reverse order, coming out of his wand. Cedric Diggory is the first one to appear, encouraging Harry to ” Hold On”, then Frank Bryce, and after that Harry’s mother, and father. The shock over the appearance of these ghosts gives Harry the required time to grab the Triwizard Cup and returns Cedric’s body to Hogwarts.

Following the above incident, Harry received a letter notifying him that he was expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for using magic outside school. However, with the witness received from Arabella Figg (a squib) at Harry’s trial, Dumbledore gets the charges dismissed, and fortunately, Harry is reinstated at Hogwarts school.
The Ministry of Magic, led by Cornelius Fudge, refuses to admit the fact that Voldemort has returned. So, the Order of the Phoenix has been formed, a secret society of dedicated wizards, including Sirius Black, fighting against Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters. Dolores Umbridge, the new Dark Arts professor, refuses to allow them to practice defensive spells, stating that they are unnecessary. Since Harry continuously claimed that Lord Voldemort had returned, which the Ministry of Magic did not believe, Umbridge punished him with a blood quill to write lines until a scar emerged on his hand, “I must not tell lies.“
Harry, Hermione, and Ron form their own Defense Against the Dark Arts, calling themselves Dumbledore’s Army. Marietta Edgecombe, Cho’s friend, is the one who betrayed Dumbledore’s Army to Umbridge. (Unbreakable vow, in which one Wizard makes an oath to another and the one who breaks it, will die. ) On the other hand, Dumbledore had a deal with Snape that he must be the one to kill Dumbledore.
The death of Albus Dumbledore is considered one of the saddest and most emotional moments in the Harry Potter Book series. The wisest and most beloved Hogwarts headmaster,Dumbledore, dies in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Draco Malfoy was chosen by Lord Voldemort to kill Dumbledore, but his death was pre-planned. Draco disarmed Dumbledore before Severus Snape killed him in the astronomy tower, as Dumbledore requested Snape to do so. On the day of his funeral, people from all over the world come to pay their final respects to one of the greatest wizards who ever lived. Dobby is happy to be with his friend, Harry Potter. “.Mistakingly believing that Snape was the true master of the Elder Wand, Voldemort killed Severus Snape using his snake, Nagini. Snape asked Harry to take his tears into the pensieve, as the substance was carrying Snape’s memories and was not just tears. Book 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Brief Summary of the Book
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the final successful installment in the record-breaking Harry Potter series by British author J. K. Rowling and the highly-anticipated sequel, which marked the conclusion of the story, “The Boy Who Lived “. The Deathly Hallows takes place during Harry’s seventh year at Hogwarts, following Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and continues to the final battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. Instead of following the traditional storyline of the previous Harry Potter novels, Harry and his friends choose not to return to Hogwarts, as it poses a threat to muggle-borns. Harry, Ron, and Hermione begin a secret mission to destroy the Horcruxes, the sources of Voldemort’s immortality.
Rufus Scrimgeour is the Minister of Magic at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After Death Eaters took over the Ministry of Magic, Voldemort wanted to know the whereabouts of Harry Potter, so he captured Scrimgeour, and when he refused to talk, Voldemort killed him. Professor Charity Burbage, the Muggle Studies teacher at Hogwarts, published an article in the Daily Prophet newspaper stating that there is no big difference between Muggles and wizards. As a result of that, she was executed by Voldemort in front of Death Eaters and Ministry members.
During the final climatic battle with Lord Voldemort, Harry knew that he was the master of the Elder Wand, as he had disarmed Draco earlier. (The Elder Wand is the wand with immense magical power made by the tail hair of a Thestral as its core substance.) According to Dumbledore, it was essential that Voldemort kill Harry first, as that was the only way to kill Voldemort’s piece of soul. When Voldemort casts the Killing Curse, it strikes the Horcrux within Harry and kills the fragment of his soul. Voldemort thought Harry was dead, but he woke up again, and in the meantime, Molly Weasley killed Bellatrix with a powerful curse that hit straight to her heart. And then, Neville Longbottom killed Nagini, the last Horcrux of Voldemort, with a single stroke using Gryffindor’s sword, which appeared in the Sorting Hat, as it has the power of basilisk venom.
When the Horcruxes left, Voldemort became weak and vulnerable. And suddenly, Death Eaters started to abandon Voldemort at the Battle of Hogwarts, on the brink of losing. Harry again casts with Expelliarmus and Voldemort with his signature spell, Avada Kedavra, raising their wands at the same instance. But The Killing Curse rebounded off Harry’s body, fatally striking already weak Voldemort and destroying the last of his Horcruxes. On 2 May 1998 in the historic Hogwarts Castle, Lord Voldemort was defeated once and for all by the legendary young wizard, Harry Potter. This, known as Voldemort’s End, was the conflict that officially marked the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, which saved the wizarding world and was the most eagerly awaited conclusion of the great story of our time. In the end, Harry returns Elder Wand to Dumbledore’s tomb.

Pettigrew’s loyalty is first and foremost to himself and allying with whoever he considers as the strongest. He is loyal to others only when it serves his own interests. Pettigrew is a weak and traitorous coward full of selfishness and disloyalty.
When Lord Voldemort rose to power, Pettigrew thought that Dark Lord would win the war and wished to be on the winner’s side showing his clear selfishness. So, he betrayed his closest friends James and Lilly to Voldemort when his life was at risk, by leaking secret information about their location resulting in the murders of Harry’s parents.
Sirius knew what had happened and went after Pettigrew to kill him. In the meantime, Pettigrew killed 12 muggles with a powerful charm, then cut off a finger and left it behind as evidence of his death before going into hiding. He is in disguise as Ron Weasley’s pet rat Scabbers.
16. Ginny Weasley
Ginny Weasley is one of the leading female characters throughout JK Rowling’s phenomenally successful Harry Potter Book series. Ginny becomes a strong witch who shows herself to be independent and capable, fighting alongside Harry as a member of Dumbledore’s Army.
Ginny found a diary and began writing in it and she was amazed when the diary wrote back. The diary was actually the first Horcrux made by Lord Voldemort while he was a young wizard attending Hogwarts under the name Tom Riddle. He imprinted it with his memories so that the diary could be used again to open the Chamber in the future.
Ginny came under the influence of the memory of Tom Riddle’s sixteen-year-old self, preserved in a diary, which forced her to re-open the Chamber of Secrets and release Slytherin’s monster, endangering the lives of many muggle-born students, including her own.
